Travis Lovett, 21, a Florida resident, is in custody and faces three counts of aggravated murder and two counts of murder in the death of Alice Tully, 18, an Ohio Girl Scout. Lovett also faces charges of kidnapping, aggravated burglary, assault, tampering, and menacing by stalking.
On October 21, Lovett drove from Florida to Ohio to confront a former high school classmate identified in court documents as "Jane Doe." That classmate had left Florida and was staying with Tully for safety, according to prosecutors in Portage County Court of Common Pleas. When Lovett arrived at Tully's residence in Atwater Township, roughly 30 miles east of Akron, the women asked him to leave and called for help. He departed but returned later, forced his way inside, fatally shot Tully, and attempted to kidnap his former classmate, police said. Tully and Lovett did not know each other.
Lovett fled the scene and was arrested hours later in Guernsey County. A judge set his bond at 10 million dollars during a hearing on Friday. He is scheduled to return to court on November 10.
