Lillian Mun, 30, and Terrence Wright, 40, face three counts of child neglect after leaving three children under age 6 alone in a turned-off Jeep at the Seminole Classic Casino in Hollywood, Florida.
Police arrived shortly after 1:30 a.m. Sunday after casino security discovered the children in the vehicle. Officers found the children "appeared to be unconscious," sweating inside the car with the windows up. The outside temperature was 76 degrees Fahrenheit with 89 percent humidity. The children had no access to a phone, food, or water.
Wright told police he and Mun went to the casino to use the bathroom. Mun claimed she had been in the vehicle with the kids while Wright was inside, but the Jeep's engine turned off because Wright had the keys. She said she went in to find him, leaving the children alone for about 20 minutes.
Surveillance video contradicted their account. The couple arrived around 11:50 p.m. Wright entered the casino first. Mun went inside around 12:38 a.m. and three minutes later was sitting at the slots with Wright, watching him gamble. She later played the slots herself. Police determined the children were alone for about an hour total.
Mun and Wright have dated for about three years and live together. Wright serves as a father figure to the children. One of Mun's friends has taken custody of the children. The Department of Children and Families is conducting its own investigation.
Wright has bonded out of jail. Mun, who is on probation for a grand theft charge, remains incarcerated without bond.
