Chad T. Wright, 16, has been charged with criminal homicide, attempted criminal homicide, and engaging in a criminal conspiracy in connection with a shooting at Birchstone Village Apartments in Madison, Tennessee, the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department announced.
On Oct. 15 at approximately 7:45 p.m., John Diaz Santos, 22, and his 14-year-old brother were delivering DoorDash orders in a black Infiniti sedan in the apartment complex parking lot on North Dupont Avenue when someone approached and opened fire. Police said moments later two more men approached and one of them also started shooting at the vehicle.
Santos died after he crashed into a nearby fence while trying to escape. His younger brother was brought to a children's hospital in critical condition. Police said his current health status is unclear.
Wright was arrested on Oct. 30 at his high school. Police said a potential motive of robbery "is under consideration." Authorities did not indicate whether they are seeking additional suspects.
